Scanning receipts
You can scan receipts manually or automatically using the Circula mobile app:
Automated scan: The scan will be automatically triggered when the receipt is ready to be captured. In this mode, you can also manually trigger the scan by tapping on the camera button. To activate the automated scan, simply click on the square icon in the upper right display corner. If it says "Auto Capture: ON", this mode is activated.
Manual scan: You will need to manually trigger the scan to capture the receipt. To use this option, clock on the square symbol so that it says "Auto Capture: OFF".
💡 Tips:
Your scan doesn’t have to be perfect, but make sure the receipt is readable for your accounting department to be able to review them.
If you face difficulties with the receipt recognition, the photo can be snapped by tapping on the camera button. This works in both manual and automatic mode.
Editing receipt scans
Once the receipt is captured, the following editing options are available:
Add scan: Select this option if you want to add more than one scan (front and back, multi-page receipts, long receipts). A maximum of three scan pages are allowed per submission. If a receipt has more than three pages, you can create a multi-page PDF outside of Circula and upload it.
Edit scan (crop, change color mode to black and white, rotate scan).
Next step: Click on the yellow arrow to proceed to extracting the information and submitting the expense.
Upload receipts directly as a photo
To upload a receipt directly from your own photos, first, take a photo of the receipt. Now go to the Circula app, click on the yellow plus sign and select which kind of expense you want to add.
Then go to the photo icon in the bottom left corner and select "Choose from photos". Check all the details and submit your expense. Done!
