How to open a CSV-File

A CSV (comma-separated-values) file is a text file with a specific format that can be used to store data in tables. The extension of the file name is .csv. This format is mainly used because it can easily merge text formats into large amounts of data.

Download a CSV-Export in Circula

  1. Go to the "Reports" tab in your Circula app.

  2. Select the report you would like to export.

  3. Now click on "Export" in the selected column on the right and click "Export as CSV".

  4. Done.

How to open a CSV-File in Excel

  1. Open your Microsoft Excel and click on "Data" in the menu bar.

  2. Now click on "Get data" on the far left.

  3. Now a new window opens and you can choose the data source, click on "Text/CSV".

  4. Now select the desired export file and click on "Next".

  5. Your default settings should already be set correctly for the CSV format. However, if they are not, please adjust them as follows:

  • File origin: 60051: Unicode (UTF-8)

  • Delimiter: Semicolon

  • Data type detection: Based on the first 200 rows

6. Now please click on "Load" in the lower right corner.

7. Your CSV file should now open in the correct format and be readable.

How to open a CSV-File in Google Sheets

  1. Open your Google Sheets program and click on "File" in the menu bar.

  2. Now click on "Import".

  3. A new window will open. Click on "Upload" on the far right and select the desired file.

  4. A window opens again in which you now select the following parameters:

5. Click on "Import data" and your CSV-Export should now be readable and open in the correct format.
